us citizenship help..

once i get this does it mean i am no longer a british citizen. thinking that i might need to become us citizen in case i have to bring my mum over to care for her...hate the thought of giving up my british citizenship...

No it does not mean you give up your British citizenship. You merely maintain 2 passports. I've had us citizenship since 2004 and still have uk citizenship

You might want to do a search on bringing elderly people over it's not a brilliant idea unless you are super super rich, medical care is expensive and insurance not always available.
Other than that you are free to be a dual national, and hold both US and UK passports, probably a good idea if you find yourself running back and forth to see to aging relatives, at least you know they'll let you back into the US even if you spend a long time in UK.

As far as the US is concerned, yes. As far as the UK is concerned, no.
