Take a read through the BE Wiki...there's info in there about citizenship.

I have personal experience of the British Consulate not always getting this right, so I believe that we need to be very careful on this forum about statements related to this very complex area of law.

There are a number of exceptions to the generalization about unmarried fathers being unable to pass on their British or US citizenship to children born out of wedlock and each case is different. This person may indeed be a British Citizen and not know yet how to document it, or maybe not. When it gets this complicated it is a matter best referred to a knowledgeable solicitor.

Mary

Hi all,

Thanks very much for your posts and replies.

I started to do some digging online and came across this site. Does anyone know anything about this?
http://www.ukcitizenshipequality.com/

They put together this petition:
http://www.gopetition.co.uk/petition...ignatures.html

Any way we can get this petition to be considered? :fingerscrossed:

Thanks again, everyone!

Kind regards...

No, not anytime soon. Parliament already dealt with the issue as much as they were prepared to do at the time. They have other priorities now and there are other remedies under the law that are in place. Sorry.

Mary
