US beers you recommend.

No. No point - there are literally hundreds of US breweries whose output trumps Sam Adams in terms of quality (read flavour). All Sam is really relevant for is a stepping stone from Bud etc. towards proper beer. There really isn't much point in most of their range - apart from some of their limited runs they brew beer with as little flavour as possible to ensure mass market appeal.

a big recommend here, new glarus (if you can get it) 'moonman'. My first try of this ale, very refreshing a great balance of sweet fruit and bitter, reminds me of badgers golden glory (peachy) Uk beer. I reckon some might find this a bit too poncy but i really like it, just 5%, so around my ideal abv. This is a summer beer for sure. I know when a beer is right for me as i start gulping it down heartily instead of taking polite mouthfuls, by comparison if im ever faced with miller light (to be polite in company) i take sips just to minimise the misery.

Just bringing back this old thread...
For those in Maine, check out The Liberal Cup - http://www.theliberalcup.com/ It's a brew pub in Hallowell, a burb in Augusta.
Typical kind of pub and typical pub grub, it's good but nothing amazing, though the beer cheese soup is yum.
They've got a nice selection of beers and have a couple of cask beers which I thought was pretty decent, the Summer Bitter Summer Not, that was nice and smooth, also cheap, all their beers were $3.75 a pint which is pretty good going.
Oh and for you beer nuts, what do you do with your finished mini kegs? Got one from Gritty's on our way back down from Maine, nice and cheap...but not sure what to do with it afterwards and I don't brew my own, so any thing you've seen done with them?
