Unpaid parking fines and a court date
hi Guys,
I live in the States and I have a friend who wants to come and visit me but he is worried as he lived in the states for three years and built up $2000 worth of parking tickets that he didn't pay and was meant to go for court for speeding but was already back in his home country. Will he have a problem traveling here or do you think he will be ok? He left the states almost 4 years ago. Will he still face problems.
Any advice would be appreciated
thanks

You're definitely posting on the wrong forum --- this is Marriage Based Visas.
I highly doubt he will face issues but it would take a lawyer (or at least someone versed in crimnal proceedings) to advise if a warrant could/would have been issued due to this guy's unpaid tickets/missed court date and if such an issue would still face the guy, given he left so long ago.

He needs to contact the court(s) with jurisdiction over these offenses and see about clearing them up.

no offence to the OP - but isnt it funny how often these people think that they can leave a mess behind and it wont come back to haunt them. We currently have two other threads going on with poeple who have committed various crimes in their past and are not sure about their ability to get into the us on holiday now.
In a way - It vindicates the personal choices that some of us make to not commit crime and clear up any mess we incur along the way.

All depends on whether a warrant was issued for the arrest of your friend due to non appearance. I seem to recall a poster a few weeks ago who was arrested on the spot so your friend should stay well away unless he fancies being locked up and dragged before the judge.
If they're lucky they'll be deported instantly if they're unlucky they may find themselves spending a short while in the county jail
