UK-US flight prices...
 

Hello,

I'll be moving back to the US with my wife after her immigration interview here in London in the middle of July and was wondering if anyone has any advice about when the best time to fly (pricewise) would be.

We can leave the UK for NY anytime after the 21st of Aug and will fly economy.

Would we be better off waiting until some time in september when the kids (both US and UK) go back to school? Or does it not make much difference until around Nov? Is there a specific date which seperates highseason from the shoulder season? Anyone have any experience with this?

Also, should we start searching for round trip or one way. The earliest we could get back to the UK would be 6-8 months later, so I assume we could get one that open ended could we?

September is cheaper than August (usually around £100 or so). November is even cheaper (another £100-200).

Different airlines have different details, a BA flexible ticket is usually c twice their cheapest, but they will change your return date for I think GBP50. All on their web site, they show their cheapest deals in yellow.

My Mum is coming over in September, Denver, GBP550 odd, nearly GBP200 more than the deal we got last year but not a lot more than other options, and they involved changes.
