Wink UK/US education

I am in the process of filling out a application form for another job, so I need to know, what would my qualifications equal too?

I left school in 1990, with 7 GCSE's, then I completed 2 apprenticeships
gainning City & Guilds qualifications. I also have a NVQ level 3 in Supervisory Management.

Does anyone have any ideas????

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Well, for US to UK equivalencies you can look here:

http://www.britishcouncil.org/eis/quusa.htm

Basically British "A" levels are the equivalent of doing the first year of a US degree course. An American Masters degree is equivalent to a British Hons. degree!

I'm sure that I've seen a similar question to yours on http://www.british-expats.com - you should do a search as I'm sure someone once posted on the discussion boards the address of a place in the US where they will formally assess your British qualifications compared to what you would be awarded from an institution in the US. Possibly the British Council may be able to give you the address; they have a toll-free number as they have an office in Washington DC. Also check out http://britain-info.org

Hope this helps!

Thumbs up

Aha! I've also found some information (see below). There are a number of organizations which offer this service, but it's not cheap. I've definitely heard of WES and they offer an all-in-one fee:

and the one listed at the bottom is WES:

It's a good idea to go over to Britnet on the Discussion forums as there are lots of Brits who are working in US colleges or were teachers who regularly post there. They will probably be able to give some guidance - or tell you where to find the best pint in your area!
