UK State Pension.

Folks,
I’m going to give HMRC a call also but a question on StatePensions that I’m not clear on, this is the scenario:
Male is state retirement age and is in the 30 qualifyingyear’s group.
Spouse is not near retirement age and will fall into the 35 qualifyingyear group when she does retire.
So............is the spouse able to claim against hubby’searnings when she hits retirement age? I think not and what she receives as apension will be purely down to her own NI record / qualifying years. So if shehas 35 years she gets the full pension, if she has 25 years she gets 25/35’s etc…..it’swhat she has in the NI bank and there is no longer any way to claim a marriedpersons pension. Yes….no….?

Re: UK State Pension.

The top up of a spouses pension if they were not getting the full amount, to 60% of main recipients pension was stopped I thought when the new pension came in. As 60 percent of 35 qualifying years is 21/35, someone with 25/35 qualifying years wouldn't have got it anyway.

Thanks, that's what I recall coming away with after an earlier conversation with HMRC. I couldn't recall the exact figures but basically the message seemed to be.....'we don't do that anymore'. I'll check with them anyway just for the heck of it but thanks for the info.
