Default UK Passport Timeline

Wondering if anyone has idea of how long to receive back all of my original documents from DC? My credit card was charged on Sept 13.

Your docs will be returned the same day as your passport, or within a couple of days thereafter. DC seems to be back on schedule for passport renewals, so I'd expect them back sometime later this month or early November.

Thanks Ian and Bob.

My husband's documents were returned separately and at least a month before he received the pp, but then he didn't have to send the boatload of docs I did and he got his pp before the switchover to UK handling. I shouldn't worry, just thinking of all of those originals and if I had to replace them if they were lost. OK, letting my worries go.

UPS just came to the door and my original docs were in the pkg with a note saying the pp should be here in 5-10 days. That's a relief.

I'm not sure why you're in limbo. The website clearly states that passports are usually processed within 4 weeks after payment is processed. For you, that was like... what, 3 days ago?

FWIW, my application was posted on Mar 6, payment taken Mar 16, new passport arrived today (Apr 2). My original passport (the one with the visa) has not been returned yet.

Mine was posted March 15th, delivered March 20th, no payment has been taken yet, and no sign of my passport.

With a gravely ill mother in the UK, the last thing I need is for my passport to be held up somewhere.

Hopefully payment will be taken any day now, and I can start looking for the new passport in the mail!

And... as if by magic... they took the fee from my card today. Just another couple of weeks to go, with any luck.

Hope all works out well with you - good thoughts for your mum - same for me at the moment! Hope you get passport back as its scary being in this situation without it

I think that if you need it for any emergency and it hasnt arrived you can go to the nearest British Consulate in person and apply for an Emergency Travel Document - its $157

good luck!
