Im looking for the Washington address online to send my passport renewal application and I keep getting the Durham, UK address. I recall hearing that passport applications are sent to UK but I thought I had to send it to the Washington address first.

I believe Im on the 'applying for renewel out of UK in US online brit. govt. pages.

anyone have a link to the Washington address or do i have to send it all to England now?

If it is UK, what is the preferred method of mailing? US Post Office insured?

Upon furthur review, it appears that they have changed all the forms from the C1 that I have just completed! I will download and fill out the new ones and send it to UK....

Yep, we have a hotel booked on the Canadian side and will spend a day and a half exploring before heading back to NYC. Always heard you have to cross to the Canadian side to get the best of the Falls so here's hoping the passport arrives in time ...

I was trying to figure it out too. Does Durham accept courier delivery I.e. FedEx? DHL? I don't fancy risking regular post not with all original documents etc.

Wow - I mailed mine in a little over a week ago and it looks like I was one of the last to get to send it to DC. That was close

If you go past Saratoga Springs, NY it's well worth a short detour for a lunch break kind of thing, lovely town and there a fun car museum and ballet museum if you've got kids

Just applied for a replacement for a lost and expired passport.
Application mailed - August 28th
Paperwork arrived in DC - August 30th
Fee withdrawn - September 5th
The supporting documents arrived back today by DHL (with no supporting documents in the envelope - what the..?) and a note stating the passport should arrive in 5 to ten days. Not bad - a 2 1/2 to 3 week turnaround

I'm going to be renewing my UK passport soon. The information in this thread has been really useful.

Since the process has changed and all documents must be sent to Durham, UK - does anyone have experience yet with using a courier service from the US?

Also, my current passport has my US visa which I'll need to re-enter the US in the future. When the old passport is returned, is corner snipped off all the pages, or just the front/back?

I'm planning on sending a set of Walgreens passport photos, at 2"x2", and hoping they will just be cut down during processing. If anyone has advice against this, please let me know.

They shouldn't snip your visa pages - just the covers and the photo page. You can always include a Post-It note on the relevant page reminding them though.

I am also trying to renew my passport and keep getting directed to send to the UK - how do I know what the fee is - the website only gives in GBP - I guess I can use a credit card. Does anyone know how much longer this will take? I was hoping to travel in middle of October. What a pain. Do we now just become part of the UK queue, and therefore potentially much longer than 4 weeks.
