Default UK Passport renewal: Need to renew with new married surname; any advice?

Hello there folks

What a fabulous website - I have just spent a while reading through some of the topics and laughing at some of the shared experiences that people have talked about - I can relate to pretty much all of them!!

I have a quick question and was wondering if anyone could help or gie me a step-by-step breakdown of what I need to do - I would be ever so grateful indeed.

I live in NYC; married to a USC. My 10 yr passport is coming up for renewal...I would like to get my name changed to my married name...how on earth do I go about doing this?

Do I go to the UK consulate on Third Ave? Or do I send my old pp/forms to Washington? Do I send them a copy of my marriage certificate? Does the whole process cost any extra than if it was a straightforward renewal? Do they need my old passport? So many questions...!

If there is anyone that has had to do this and can share their experience/instructions with me, like I say, In would be ever so grateful to you...

Thanks muchly again and have a blessed day.

The UK Embassy in DC is where you have to apply for passport renewals. The process, timeline, etc. has been covered in previous threads on passport renewals. Please search for them in this forum.

You have to send everything to Washington. Here's the website link

http://www.britainusa.com/consular/o...5&Other_ID=205

they were very quick when I changed my name - I got it couriered back in about two weeks.
