$2.85 at ours yesterday, and $3.05 at the local pumps. You were lucky.

Well I had not been down for sometime and the norm in Denver seemed to be 2.50 something which was somewhat more than or my last trip.

I was in Palo Alto last week, with my daughter, looking at Stanford. It's a beautiful place. I had absolutely no idea what to expect and was quite blown away.

It was fun going to California from Maine - such different places!

It's nearly $7 a gallon in the UK, for comparison

My two oldest go to elementary school by Stanford. It's a really lovely town, we're really enjoying it here so far! 😊

I paid $3.79 yesterday. Didn't plan to go there (and won't again) but the "miles to empty" indicator went straight from 30 to flashing "---" at me so I decided to get $15 PDQ, just in case.

Currently about $3.30 around here at the more sensibly priced stations.

Many of us drive a LOT more in the USA and so it starts to balance out.

Currently paying around $2.65 and certainly driving longer distances and i own a gas guzzling truck! Nothing like the public transport service compared to what i was used to in the UK. I'm living only a few miles from the Disney attractions and you can still find 3/4 bed pool homes for under $1500 pm.

It's just hit $2.80 here in GA. My 3.5L Ecoboost F150 does about 18mpg, but I drive 50 miles round trip every day to work (which I know is pretty short compared to some people) The 32 gallon tank empties by half in a given week and costs about $50 to fill up.

It gets expensive quickly.

It's a 2013, so first generation EB. 17 is the combined according to the EPA. Its also a 4x4 supercrew, so weights about 2.5 tons.

Not quite. US gallon is smaller than an imperial gallon at 3.78 litres. By my calculation that makes it £1.2 (current UK price) x 3.78 x 1.36 (current exchange rate) = $6.17.

But, yeh, gas is way more expensive than in the UK even in comparison to California.

Did not realise they had changed that much.

Ok, I'm going to stop posting now. Gas in the UK is like here, different prices in different areas. My original post was supposed to just be a rough guide or helpful tips to help anyone moving to Palo Alto or neighbouring areas. It's turned into a thread on the price of gas and property rental prices in other states.
