this is what i did, although I did not join the company knowing i would be moving to america
still cost me $7000 in legal and visa fees
i'm in biz dev and i'm fairly sure that there is not even a work visa that would apply to you, unless you become an IT bod, but then you face a) massive competition from locals for a job and b) the USCIS turning down your application as it is likely that there are plenty of americans with your IT skillset
i came on a L1-b (specialist knowledge)
there are a myriad of visa websites that would be better placed than this one to give advice on your options.
Your best best is to find a fat american chick, fall in love and get married to her - pretty much the only fool-proof long term option aside from becoming a nurse

The Corporate move with a L visa seems best bet, I have some friends who have done that. H are limited in number and you are competing against the whole of India etc etc. It's seen as a back way to Immigrate as lit also has Dual Intent.
No harm in trying, but I would not put my life on hold waiting.
And she does not have to be fat, but yet again you should not limit yourself unduly. (Rich also helps btw)

You could have a look on the British Council website - they have loads of internship type info on there, I would check out BUNAC as well.
Failing that, go and get an Masters in Business Administration at Harvard - only about $500,000 and then you'd be in anywhere!
You could always do it the Mexican way and become illegal, work at Home Depot (US version of B&Q) for 7 years and then apply for citizenship.
Most of us on here are in the USA becuase our partners are American. Loads of people met their US spouses online - I met mine whilst working over here at a summer camp 3 years ago - anythings possible. You could always start trawling the internet looking for US single mothers who need a baby daddy
