Re: UK Foods in the US Share your finds!
I received the "Fearless Flyer" newsletter from Trader Joe's today in the post.
They are selling frozen "Steak and Stout Pies"
I went to our local TJ shop this afternoon as I was so excited about it.....we are due for a snowstorm overnight and I thought it would be a nice hearty thing to eat tomorrow.
I trotted off to the frozen food aisle. There were lots and lots of chicken pies.....and sadly the section next to it for the "Steak and Stout Pies" was completely empty
I asked at the Customer Services desk in case they had any out the back and (apparently due to the snow storm) they had a run of them today and had completely sold out. Well I do know that there are quite a lot of British expats living in the local area and I reckon some people must have gone in and bought about half a dozen boxes of pies at a time (I know I would if there was space in the freezer lol!). The next supplies are due in on Friday and I'm going to get down there pronto!
Homepage: Welcome | Trader Joe's (do look at the photo of them - click on the link to "Fearless Flyer" and then the 'Frozen foods' section). They look lush!

I actually saw them this weekend but was put off by the price and how they looked. They were making them in store and they definitely didn't look as good as on the box. I'd say there's probably half the amount of filling in them than on the picture

Wegmans have their Irish bangers out and they're really rather good.
Golden Oreo's, they're a pretty bang on replacement for custard creams...

Cheapest place to buy polenta, nuts, carrots, wine (and I'm not talking about 2buckchuck!), lemon curd ($2.99 compared to $6.99 in my local HEB grocery store), decent jam, cheddar, any french cheese they have is usually a bargain. GF cookies... pizza, frozen green beans, huge bars of chocolate for camping holidays...

I realize you're in NC, where anything more that a possum burger is considered expensive (and originally from long-pockets-short-arms, er, Yorkshire, but to call TJ's a rip-off is just wrong!
Consider it M&S, with stuff people WANT to buy at prices they can AFFORD!
