I wish my Safeway out here on the West Coast had an acceptable Indian section... everything we have is Mexican or Asian and the new Kikoman Masala stuff is appalling.

I love HP sauce and hadn't had it for years....until now. Parents brought some over.

Edit to add: if you have an Earl of Sandwich sandwich shop near you, they have HP sauce as a condiment. Or at least the one in Sugar Land, TX does.

Not as funny as when I went into Publix and they had it under the "ethnic foods" section and not as funny that they had Nestlé coffee crisps either! (They're Canadian).

My supermarket has more curry stuff imported from Britain than it does from India/Pakistan/Blangladesh/USA.

I found those as well - at WalMart - they are only about $2.50 a pack and they are dead on Jaffa Cakes - I took a box into work and all the girls went crazy for them

There are MANY supermarkets which stock a variety of UK foods (and HP sauce is commonly available).
Depends on wheere you live.
Shoprite, Stop & Shop you name it.
If now try Amazon.com for items.

I happen to like Sharwood's Tandoori Curry Spice, but as far as I can see it's not even sold in the UK these days!

I'm new to this board. Just happened to stumble across it while looking for some British food. My husband is from the UK so I've spent a lot of time over the past ten years looking for his favorite British foods here in the US and thought I'd share what I've found over the years.

Cost Plus World Market has stores all over the US and they have a good selection of British candy, biscuits, PG Tips, etc. but they don't list the British food on their website so here's the store locator link. The British Emporium in Grapevine Texas (between Dallas and Fort Worth) has a huge selection of all sorts of British foods, including some imported meats, meat pies, crisps, beverages, etc. http://www.british-emporium.com/

The German Deli which is one town over from Grapevine in Southlake, Texas has a huge selection of foods, candies and meats from Europe, with most being from Germany. Shipping is high though but the store itself is great. http://www.germandeli.com/



If you're in the Seattle/Tacoma area or are coming for a visit some time, there are several British shops and pubs here.

The British Pantry in Redmond, WA is pricey on their imported food but they have a good selection of sweets, teas, jams, etc. They do their own baked goods too such as pasties, meat pies, cakes, tarts, etc. which seem to sell well but I'm not a fan. They also have a pub next door and the fish and chips are the best we've found in the US, plus you can get a decent pint of Guinness there. For British bacon and sausage, there's an excellent shop in Auburn, WA. They also sell their products at several farmers markets in the greater Seattle area. http://www.properbritishbacon.com/

In Gig Harbor, WA (short drive from Tacoma) is a great British shop that just opened a month ago. Good prices and selection and the only place where I've been able to find Cadbury's Fudge. They also have a shop in Torrance, CA. http://www.thebritconnection.com/

OK - this is really important (to me anyway) - has anyone found a mail order/internet source for Cadbury's Highlights low cal hot chocolate drink? A couple of sellers have it on Amazon but they either want $19.99 for a container (although I wouldn't have pay shipping) or $8.35 with a massive $39.22 shipping charge.

I have found nothing over here that is as good. And I no longer have family in the UK I can strong arm into mailing it for me.

As I get to the bottom of my last container, the $19.99 is starting to look pretty good.

Of course if anyone has an acceptable substitute I'd be interested to hear about that as well.

Don't get to excited it might seasonal or one of the not always in stock items,but World Market had them for sure because I bought some last year, make a request with them

I had asked recently about some gummies from Germany that I like, they sell the brand at World Market but not the flavor I wanted. The guy in the store said they no longer can order things for you as it's all done by corporate now but if you call or email corporate and it's something they already buy for other stores, they can arrange to have some sent to the store nearest you. I haven't gotten around to asking yet but it's worth a shot.
