Uk food in the DFW area.............WHERE?

Ok, I've been here for a few years and have found some places that can supply, match or give a good substitute for UK food.

So in the best interests of those around me, and as I am a newbee to this forum.......Can we get a collection of locations going to build an address book of items from Dallas/Fort Worth?

I have a few and as others ask or suggest please feel free to dive in with suggestions.

Thanks

Nigs

PS..................... BACON.........................NOT that crappy Canadian stuff!!!!!!!!......Need Bacon

You could try the British Emporium in Grapevine. Can't remember if they do bacon, but worth a try:

UK food shouldn't be too hard to find. Buy a bag of potatoes and boil some water...you'll be tasting Blighty in about twenty minutes.

Try a butcher and get your bacon or look for Irish Bacon. Canadian Bacon is not bacon it is ham.

bacon from there was always wafer thin and very watery - still worth the trip though!

There is another British place in Dallas - Greenville Ave, near the Granada Theater

Kroger and Albertsons (the larger ones) have British sections with beans and juice and biccies - cheaper than the emporium and specialist places - happy hunting

I think I know the place you meant, run by a couple of Scotish women. Last time I went there it was closed and looked as if it wouldn't re-open.

Hi, lurker here just popping in to say I was at British Emporium yesterday stocking up. Good choice of everything except crisps and they are expecting a new shipment Friday. Going back to lurking now.:)

World market ! .. I saw one last year near I-20 east of Dallas.
Also see if there is a 'Fresh Farms' store near you ... ;)

That one on Greenville had closed last time I looked too.

I really, really miss the British Emporium. Their stock is usually so fresh, the stuff in the tiny little British store up here in Edmonton is hugely expensive and very often stale :(

Krogers is great for British stuff, beans, bisto, biscuits, robinsons juice, ribena, the odd bar of chocolate and sometimes crisps.

Central Markets used to stock Irish sausages and every now and then bacon, but the last few times I went there they didn't have any, and I wonder if they had stopped getting it in. They do have cider however, and their wholemeal bread and cakes are worth the trip even if they don't have the bacon and sausages anymore :D

World Markets also has British stuff, and last time I was in there they had pear drops, aniseed twists, some bloody fantastic fudge (Lilly O'Brien) and chocolate. More pricey than the Emporium but good for a quick fix :) There is a World Market in the Firewheel Mall (North Garland off the end of the George Bush Turnpike)
