I had an endowment mortgage in the UK that is shortly about to mature. I no longer have my house in the UK but do have one in the US.

Can any one tell me if the mortgage payoff is taxable?

I think the short answer is "Yes". The long answer is figuring out how much of it is taxable and at what rate.

[And an alternative answer is "Endowment? What endowment?"]

It will be paid into a UK bank account ... presumably

hope you dont forget about it ... no one else will know about it
