Interestingly, my friends/tradespeople - a father and son where the father is a Mexican immigrant (legal if anyone's wondering) told me the first thing they tell their friends or employees arriving from Mexico is - learn English!
They support learning the basic "language of the land" and say life is much better once a person is a reasonable english speaker. And they have no problem at all with that, are not in support of a bunch of Spanish speaking services being provided long term.

Reading the menu of the Denver McD's in Spanish did quite shock me, I didnt expect it that far from the border or FL, and that was in 2004.
Mind you my local council building says Welcome in 19 different languages. But then we do house Heathrow Airport
Worldwide demographic projections provide interesting food for thought though.

I'm not sure just what my opinion, haven't thought about it enough. I did find my hispanic friend's response interesting though.

But you know what? That's common sense, make an effort and learn the language of the country. Immigrants prior to the last half century DID do just that here.
