U.S road trip in veggie oil conversion van!
hi im new to this forum,
im planning to study in the u.s. and i need to come over and do some research into what school i want to attend. does anyone know how long i can come over to do that, i thought a 3 month visa waiver was the only option. someone told me 6 months is possible. how do i go about finding out?
im a british female 30 yr old.
i want to drive on my trip and plan to buy a cheap van, is insurance possible for a non resident, how expensive is it. my dad's trying to be practical by saying its very expensive. im gonna find a way to do this though!
thanks so much

You will not have a permanent address
You will not have a social security card (most insurers use credit based rating nowadays)
very expensive.

There is a 6 months B-2 visa ..being youngish you are unlikely to get
one....
You will need some type of visa to attend school in the US
Do you realize the cost of schooling here ......

VWP = 90 days, you can come over on that to search for schools...I wouldn't bother buying a van for that short a length of stay, insurance will be a killer.

But then you'd have to find somewhere that sells Bio-Diesel, unless you make it yourself, but it's a big piece of kit.

Nip down to your local Burger King or MickeyD's, pick up a 50 gallon drum of Fry Oil for nothing, add some Ethanol and Lye, mix it up, strain off the greasy crap and plonk it in your diesel. Runs better than the normal stuff although you smell like a chip pan going down the road.

The internet should provide you with sufficient resources to narrow down your selection.
As an international student, you'll need to save all your pennies to afford the tuition fees, etc.
BTW, what do you want to study?
