Default tutoring

We have just moved to Houston from the UK. Our son has just finished his first year of GCSE's. We want to find him a tutor for the summer holidays mainly in Chemistry and Physics. Where can I find a tutor who could teach the UK curriculum.

Welcome to BE.

Ask the local schools if they can recommend anyone or maybe a local uni may be able to recommend a student who could tutor your son. I realise it's summer break but the office staff will still be working. Of course there is always Google.

Welcome to BE

But why be so specific? Best bet would possibly be posting on craigslist? Also if there's any Brit schools in the area, there's a couple in Houston I think? Ask them...

Just asking, but is this move perm. or just a temp thing, why the UK education for a kid just finishing his first year, get him into the American system a.s.a.p to settle him, the boy will be conflicted with 2 systems, and they are different..

Try emailing the British School of Houston. I am sure they will be able to point you in the direction of someone who offers tutoring. However I concur with the other suggestions in this thread, if your son is entering the US school system it would probably be more beneficial for him to be tutored for the US curriculum.
