hi there

i am new on this forum.my brother is from south africa he would like to do trucking jobs us employers prefer cdl trucking licence.

are there any visa options out there maybe like a student capacity where he can go to driving school for a few months or so.

Afraid not. Even a qualified and experienced trucker can't get a work visa for the US. Have a read of this link to understand the different work visas available and just how hard they are to get. His only option is if you could sponsor him for a visa - are you a US citizen or LPR?

No.

I am a green card holding trucker. you need a visa / green card on your own merit.

you may try canada however.

Canada requires 3 years class 1 experience (whatever that means, sure you'll know though Manc!) so that option's out. Australia/NZ?

well then,
he needs to be a trucker for 3 years in ZA before applying to Canada.


The US Government pays the big companies like Werner and Swift and Schneider to train unemployed Americans. (that's training them AFTER they have their CDL)

They won't pay for someone straight off the boat when 2 million people have lost their job since January.
