"It is quite in order for you to make a short visit to the US while your Fiance visa is being processed.

You may be questioned about your intentions by the Immigration and Naturalization Service at the port of entry, therefore, you should take with you evidence of your tie's [sic] to the UK.

You will be required to return to the UK in order to complete the visa process."

and impressively, this response received within 6 days of my original letter!
