Then again, from what was written in the opening post, and subsequently, we do not know if the poster is mail or female - either could have a boyfriend and the poster has not used any pronouns that reveal their own sex.

I am female, I am the American citizen and I am travelling with my boyfriend who is british, just to clear things up! lol
