Re: Travelled much in the States?

There aren't so many I haven't visited, because my (American) father came from a HUGE family & his siblings & all their children have moved all over the States.

Also my husband is an almost obsessive traveller.

States I haven't visited:

Alaska
Wyoming
Nevada
Idaho
Michigan
Minnesota
North & South Dakota
Alabama
Louisiana
Florida

No - just a regular long-distance service from Chicago to Seattle with sleeping cars and whatnot.

I did have ambitions of visiting every state.

I have spent a week in Vegas and a week NYC
A day trip to Georgia from Tallahassee -some fun park.
Other than that I have been in Florida, and not been more than 200 miles from my house in at least 2 years!

So either I am very sad, or everything I want is nearby.

Fairfield, between Kensington and Old Swan. Used to work out of Bootle, all over the UK and Europe, though.

Jim, I am guessing, knowing your line of work, that this for the most part was in the line of work, so I am wondering (if my assumption is correct) do you get a chance to enjoy the travel? or is it the proverbial busmans holiday?

For my part, very little domestic travel
Washington State, Oregon State (both just west of the Cascades)
California (San Fran only) New York (New York only) Florida (Orlando only)
and a few airport stops that I would add if there was money in it.

I'd love to take off and explore.

Yep - Most of it through work. Occasionally, I get to enjoy some quality time in the places I get to visit.

It's Tour Time with SAGA, fast approaching.

Re: Travelled much in the States?

Texas
New Mexico
Arizona
Colorado
Nevada
California
Hawaii
Washington
Arkansas
Louisiana
Mississippi
Missouri
Alabama
Georgia
Florida
New York
Massachusetts
Pennsylvania
Ohio
Illinois
Tennessee

All of those are states that we've spent at least a few days or more in apart from Alabama that we just passed thru on the way somewhere - only stayed overnight in a motel on a roadtrip, but didn't really "visit" the state.

This summer we'll be doing a trip either "up the middle" to Mt Rushmore and back, or else up to Washington DC - not decided which yet, but either way we should add a few new states to that list.

Unless you flew to Washington you can probably add another state or two. Can't get there by driving without going through Oregon or Idaho. Unless you made a serious road trip through Canada.:)

SAGA is like AARP is here in the States, at least that's my impression. OAPs & OAPs-to-be join SAGA & they can do trips & cruises.

No, its always been flying when we've been up to Washington, so can't claim the neighbours yet. Always had a hankering for Oregon after reading the James A Michener (?) book the Oregon trail when I was a kid...

Re: Travelled much in the States?

I started off wanting to visit all 50 states, so far I've seen Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota, Montana, Idaho, Washington, Arizona, California, Nevada, Florida, Colorado and of course Alaska. This leaves most of the South and North East, bible belt and tornado alley. Now thinking about this I realise there's states I really won't be bothered if I miss, namely Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Nebraska, Wyoming, Iowa, New Jersey, even NY city doesn't really appeal to me.
Next on the to-do list is Oregon with maybe a foray into Northern California.

In a similar way there's parts of the UK I've never seen for no other reason than they really never appealed to me.
