Travel insurance for relative
I have a relative who is coming to visit from the UK for 10 days. She would like to take out some travel insurance with health coverage in case something happens that requires her to visit the hospital while she is here. I have gone through the post office before but I was wondering if anyone else has done this and what companies they have gone with. Thanks.

Well unless things have changed significantly half the adds on the Tube were for travel insurance, no shortage of providers. Pretty standard product.
Usually the issue gets complicated if they are elderly and/or have pre existing medical issues.

If your relative has any health issues look at World First or Avanti.

I have never seen an add on YT for travel insurance, not ever AFAICR. Lots of ads for WeBuyAnyCar, and Dr Squatch, and I mean 6-12 per day for each, but no travel insurance.

When my mother visited the US in her mid eighties, she had travel insurance from Saga.

My sister uses the Post Office...very reasonable too. She is under 65...worth noting when a person becomes a senior the rates may increase significantly.

Post Office were always very good, and I used them for annual worldwide multi trip cover for almost 10 years, but their rates became quite pricey a few years back. I switched to Sainsburys Bank at first but now have an excellent policy with LV.

Thank you for the replies.
She is 74 and has recently been prescribed an inhaler after a respiratory infection......so I understand the increased rates.
I will ge sure to check out some of the options that have been raised on here.
Looking on money supermarket for comparison between companies I am seeing about £220 for the trip.

It got to the point with my Mother where the Insurance cost more than the Airfare. Obviously rates have changed since then. Also found that the market changed with her age so no year was the same.

AllClear insurance were always good for people with pre-existing medical conditions. Haven’t had any dealings with them for some years but I can’t imagine they’ve deteriorated in that time.
