Travel Insurance For Elderly Parents From UK
Looking for help - again!
My parents, both in mid-seventies, will be visiting here from UK next month. They’re having a lot of trouble finding reasonably priced, reputable travel insurance for their two week visit.
Both have pre-existing conditions controlled by medications. (COPD and vascular condition requiring blood thinner). So far they are being quoted well over a thousand quid for the pair of them.
Any recommendations? The companies I use are US based and don’t cover foreign nationals coming into the US.
All advice appreciated.

Not entirely relevant but you may be interested in reading this.

AlI I can suggest is to shop around.
(When my mum visited me at 80 years old I don't think there was much difficulty in getting insurance.)

Age 80 is usually considered to be the cut off for any remotely reasonable insurance, that said, I think £500+ per person for people with a potentially serious preexisting condition sounds reasonable. A couple of days in IC with a heart-related "episode" could easily cost $50,000/£40,000, and 80:1 sounds like pretty good odds to me.

Hoping someone has a wonderful recommendation that they’ve used themselves or something. Not overly hopeful but people on here have a wealth of experience and knowledge.

And for completeness I will disclose that my mother looked into what the travel insurance linked to her credit card actually covers when she is travelling, and as someone who had a heart attack and has a pacemaker, the credit card coverage was pretty much useless to her.

My rule of thumb was about the price of the airfare so seems about right. And Insurance costs have gone up a lot more than airfares.
My Mother had to find a different Insurer every year, as others have said will need to be individually underwritten.
I remember Saga worked for her first trip but not her second.

Our family health insurance is about $1000 per month and the deductible is way more than your parents are paying for 2 weeks. Considering their health issues, I think the cost is OK. BUT, I would double check that their insurance covers pre-existing conditions

Last time my father came over, we used this company https://www.geobluetravelinsurance.c...te-results.cfm He's 84 with minor pre-exisiting conditions and it cost around 150 UKPounds for over a week. We have also used this company https://www.allcleartravel.co.uk/ several times, but having never had to claim, I can't tell you if either of these insurers are any good.
