As you are in Colorado, the symptoms of the COPD may prove to be more he can handle.

A few years ago, I was driving a National Parks Tour, with a Group of Brits, and one with COPD had to leave the Tour at Jackson, Wyoming, as he was in extreme difficulty with his breathing.

Hope all works out okay for you, but, that is something to watch out for.
