Default Travel insurance

Hi,

My parents (in the UK) are planning to visit in October. The are both over 65 but under 70. Dad has recently been diagnosed with diabetes and COPD, mum has asthma. Can anyone recommend a company that might provide travel insurance for them?

Thanks!

My mil was just over in June, she's 67 and has COPD as well. I'll ask her what travel insurance company she used. I know it was pretty pricey though....

It would be they are insuring old people when other companies wouldn't do so. We used them on all our trips to the States as they covered my wife who is diabetic. You want that sort of cover you expect to have to pay for it.

Some insurance companies will not insure over 60's...even more for 70's and for 80 year olds it's even more difficult. I used AllClearTravelInsurance for my 80+ MIL who has several major health problems. Cost about $1K for 2 weeks.

I'm pretty sure my parents use Barclays for their travel insurance.

My mum used them a couple years ago, she also used Tesco's, but last time, I think she got it through Barclays, that was in April, expensive though.

She'll be 75 next year.

scrubbedexpat099 is an unknown quantity at this point

Did these cover pre existing conditions?

Which seems to be the issue?

AllClear covered all my MIL's pre conditions. You'd have to be out of your mind to travel to the US without covering already exisiting conditions.

I had arranged for another company to insure her...but before travelling she was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes so they pulled the cover. You usually have to inform them of any illness or change in meds within 6 mths of travel. If this happens be prepared for the insurance company to pull their coverage.

For my mother?

Blood pressure meds and some light pain meds for her wrist that she broke last year.
