Transfer UK A-levels to U.S. college/university?
Has anyone tried to transfer A-levels to any U.S. college or university as credits? I'm asking on behalf of my husband. He has A-levels, but did not attend any UK university. I'm wondering if he can use the A-levels as credits at a community college to work toward an Associate's Degree.
This is the article that made me wonder:

Thanks!

Yes, US colleges accept A-Levels - he would need to bring his certificates and have them evaluated for credits (by the college). Obviously the college's familiarity with working with international students would play a role in how easy this is likely to be.
If you contact the college and speak to them, they'd be able to give you more specific info. You may also find the info on their website (e.g. http://www.admissions.upenn.edu/appl...ecollegecredit - chosen at random!)

Depending on the course, you may have to complete mandatory courses before being accepted on the course as well as whatever pre-requisites the course requires.
There may also be time limits on the pre-requisite requirements- ie they needed to have been studied less than x years ago.
When you contact the community college ask to speak to the international admissions office at this point because they will be the one familiar with your type of situation. Regular admissions probably won't and may give you inaccurate advice.
ask about residency requirements for lower tuition costs
pre-requisite courses for the particular course your OH wants to study
mandatory courses (math, english, us history, health...) - these are what the high school graduation requirements would be.
Ask which company they want you to use for evaluation of your husband's "a" levels. They will have their preferred company and may not accept a different one.
