I'm a Brit working in Seattle,WA but I'm currently seconded back in the UK for a 4 month stint.

I have an account with the US Bank and have online access to this account.

My problem is that I need to transfer cash from my US account to a UK based account held with a UK bank. I was proposing to do this via one of the currency exchange sites such as Forex but they will only accept payment via a wire transfer - now comes the rub, it seems that you can only make a wire transfer in person at a branch of the US Bank (all of which are on the West Coast) which obviously I cant do as I'm in the UK!

I have no one with access to my US account back in the US so am really stuck at the moment as I'm about to starve! Any help/suggestions would be much appreciated.

xoom i use them when i am in england to transfer money online from an us based account to an england one

Thanks brit0ninusa, can you tell me how you were able to make the transfer to xoom - is it via some sort of electronic transfer rather than wire transfer?

xoom.com read the faq....most of these exchange services don't need you at a bank to do, you do it online via the exchange service, but it's the setting it up in the first place that takes a while.

Check out the details on their page here You do it all online. The money is usually at the recipient bank within an hour.

Also check out XE.com I haven't used them but I know a lot of BE members have.

I use xe.com and it works great. I send money every month, it takes about 10 days to go through if you do it the free way...If you pay fees then you can get it there faster.

Seconded. I've used them for years without problems and the rates are good (for USD/GBP at least) and as per the above, there are no additional fees.

I use xoom.com and i like it. there is a service charge of $4.99 plus they hedge a little on the XF Rate... But i've never had any issues and funds have always been transfered and complete within an hour
