transatlantic_chap is an unknown quantity at this point
Default How would you compare the USA school v the UK school.

Not intending to hijack, but I'd like to broaden the discussion slightly. I am curious to hear from people who have made the transition -- how are you finding the US schools (in your local area) compared to the one you left in the UK? How are your kids doing in their new schools?

Maybe better to start a new thread for this? The experiences are very varied and can be age/area related. It would be more helpful if we could stick to helping the OP with what might well be very specific information without it going off topic.

IMO there are too many variables for a useful conclusion to be reached - the ages and personalities of the children, the educational resources and school system where you move to, the children and teachers in the school your children are placed in, etc.

It would only take a difficult teacher or an unwelcoming clique of children to turn what could have been a benign and easy move into one that is miserable for your child.
