Unhappy Tomorrow was to be our wedding day

It has been a LONG LONG time since I first submitted my 129F to Nebraska. Originally submitted in Feb and returned for more fees. Then returned for validation of a divorce in 1974 and a photo of my fiance and myself in the USA. It was said the the preliminary work was done when the first notice was sent to us with the official date of May 7. The auto message said it will take from 70 to 100 days but since the preliminary work was done when they requested additional information that it would take 100 days. Sen Wellstone's office has checked and we were told first it was "with an examiner, and a few weeks later it was pulled out for extra security check and when the audit and now can get no information. Any hope?

We have wondered how many cases are involved with Nebraska? Tens, hundreds, thousands? It would help to have an idea.Anyone know?
Another question is does the letter ever come before the phone message is changed?
Thanks all

Sorry to hear that NormaJeanne, that's a bummer. It's not just the waiting that's bad, but it's also the not being able to plan for your future, like your wedding, because you never know when you're going to be approved.

I hope you get your visa soon. Best of Luck to you both.

Sorry to hear this, one thing that I do stress to anyone that is starting
this K1 visa is not to plan anything in advance. I to am in the k1 process
and my fiancee & I were planning a wedding before Christmas, well they
sent us a RFE, they wanted more proof that we have met in person in the
last 2 years, and now we figure that it will be spring time before we hear
anything. There nothing wrong in planning, but I would never set a date
for anything until the interview is over and its been approved. Its the
government that you are dealing with, and we all know how slow things tend
to get with them.

I think the posting from Dabear (below) is right on the money and very good advice. The Consulates themselves say not to make travel arrangements, quit jobs, sell property, etc. until the beneficiary has actually been issued the visa.

NormaJeanne, I don't have a figure as to how many cases are currently pending at the NSC (and fiancee cases in particular); however I'm going to fly out to Lincoln to attend the yearly NSC AILA liaison meeting and tour, so perhaps I can find out. I'll be touring the NSC on 10/30/02. Another thing I intend to find out is how many officer are typically, and currently assigned to process I-129f's at the NSC, and to see what they give as the reason for their current slowdown on I-129f's.

But Mr. Petty was correct... the waiting "is" the hardest part.

Good luck with your case.
