Tips for obtaining a car

Hi everyone,

I’m in the process of moving to Boston and considering two options to sort myself a car (which I’ll need as my office is 30-40 mins away):

1) Purchase a car outright. I understand I’ll need to get SSN, then a MA licence before being able to register the car. Car insurance is expected to be crazy as far as I understand?

2) Use a company like international auto source, who can arrange a lease car with my existing UK credit score/license/no claims.

Has anyone had recent experience that they can share with me? Thanks in advance.

2) is a good option but also look at direct with manufacturers as a lot of them have expat schemes.

We moved to Boston in 2023, got one lined up before we arrived with VW.

Same for me. We got a VW due to their executive/expat programs.
We did use a broker who was able to get me a slightly better price than I was offered directly from VW but more importantly took a lot of the stress and upsell/paperwork out of it.

Used Strom Auto Brokers so could be worth reaching out to them (Jonas was the guy I had recommended) - at least you then have a price to work with and see what you could get directly if you're not 100% on their offer.
