things we take for granted

Re: things we take for granted
I'm a newbie to this site and was a little disappointed that there wasn't much constructive advice for the OP. I do not disagree that Florida has some gun toting rednecks, but I think you'll find it's a lot more cultured than some of your assumptions. I've lived here for over 18 years give or take a few years in Ohio. I have attended Florida schools and now have a daughter in school here in Florida. I don't have any confederate flags flying in my rural neighborhood and I'm as liberal and democratic as they come. Here's an article from our local paper about this issue and by the way the writer is married to a Brit.

As far as the evolution comment goes, I think you should take a close look at your own state guidelines and see how your own state teaches it. As a matter of fact in an article I read it said "A comparison of peoples' views in 34 countries finds that the United States ranks near the bottom when it comes to public acceptance of evolution. Only Turkey ranked lower." So at least the decision is a move in the right direction. See us liberals in these rural "confederate flag, pitbull owning, chevy driving areas are accomplishing movement in the right direction..lol
Anyway, to the OP our family owned and operated a successful business and are quite happy here in FL even if we are missing a few front teeth.

Hi - and welcome to the forum.
Just so you realise - a bunch of us (myopic minded) yanks are on the board too. Generally married to a Brit or some such.

I am wondering if you have lived in the UK? Because if you took what I said personally you would have big issues in the UK because living there has given me a thick skin with all of the piss taking (which it has given me a world of good).
