I worked in the States for about three-and-half months last year (I certainly made far less than US$75K). Am I eligible for some of that lolly?

As long as you filed a tax return. If you haven't file it now! Download the 1040 or 1040EZ from irs.gov. You will need your W2 though. Since you should be non-resident you should be able to claim back most or all of your tax also! They are even going to give the rebate to illegal aliens. Take your dollars out now before "In God we trust" is replaced by "Hecho en China".

Reading on the illegals getting the rebate...looks like they are trying to close that loop hole.
The trouble is the ITIN's they use instead of the SSN's. Talk about a broken system.

Non tax payers should not get rebates.

Excellent, Tracy. Some people worked very hard to build up their own business but got screwed over by an even bigger business not paying them what they owed them. There you go. Back to poor and no way to restart. Being 'below middle class' does not equal being lazy, dumb and stupid.

I want to agree, but at the end of the day I think people have to take responsibility if they don't cover themselves for these kind of risks. Same goes for being brought up poor and with little chances in life - if you want it badly enough you'll make it happen. My husband and I are from poor families and nobody was lining up to help us. We got where we are through hard work and sacrifices.

House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) and Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) today issued the following statement after a number of press reports erroneously suggested the economic growth bill passed by the House this week contains language that would somehow enable illegal immigrants to receive a tax rebate:

“The legislation that we authored, and which passed the House Tuesday with overwhelming bipartisan support, would not allow any taxpayer funds to be distributed to illegal immigrants. In fact, the bill includes language similar to the provisions included in the 2001 and 2003 tax relief bills to prevent illegal immigrants from receiving any benefits. We will take legislative action to clarify and underscore this prohibition so we can expedite the rebates to millions of eligible Americans.”
So Pelosi knows which taxpayers are illegal....

I wonder why I despise most politicians.

rich people don't need the money and can give it away
poor people do need the money for themselves.

There is an election campaign to be paid for this year...........

you see how I am thinking here.....
Bush can't do anything without Congress approving it. What started out as a income tax rebate has been loaded up by Congress into a vote buying give-away that's going to do zilch for the ecomomy.

Me and the wife with one kid will get $1500 and I'm far from rich.

Yeah what a joke ha ha ha my IQ is 140 and my kids qualify for free school meals and if I were a citizen I would qualify for welfare. The reason? Catastrophic illness. We have medical insurance/sickness insurance but they wormed their way out of most of it all leaving us with big bills and no real income or the means to fight them in the courts. So yes wanker there are intelligent people on welfare.
