...and how does that affect the rebate? Why does the OP say rich people get $1200 and poor people get $600?

I have wondered - just why is being accomplished, and having money viewed as a negative? And why are those who have managed it often reviled?

I'm sorry, but just smacks of jealousy to me.

I don't understand that either tracym.
The majority have worked hard, taken risks and now it is showing.
The people who are jealous of that generally rely on those people for their income.

Top 1% of the income earners pay approx 40% of the income taxes.

It'd considered to be elitist and terrible for a rich man to look down on poor men.

I'm afraid I consider it similar, for people to call others rich b*stards, etc., just because they have money.

Good people and bad, among the rich and the poor imo

I've never begrudged someone the benefit of their toil. I'm only jealous of lottery winners because I'd love it to be me. Other than that I hope it brings them happiness half their luck.

Fair enough, I'd be jealous too!

Thing is - I've known some "old money" folks, who didn't work for it - but inherited it from their family - and were nonetheless lovely people.

My point is only, I don't think a person should be judged for their lack of money, nor for having it (unless they got it some dishonest or unethical way).

Paris Hilton - I don't like her because she's an idiot, not because she's rich.

Wise up.
Factually incorrect and just plain stupid to boot.
