These Tax rebate cheques

ok so I was just thinking........

GWB is giving our money back.

simplistically
rich people get upto $1200 and poorer people get back $600

rich people tend to support the Republicans.
poorer people tend to support the Dems.

rich people don't need the money and can give it away
poor people do need the money for themselves.

There is an election campaign to be paid for this year...........

you see how I am thinking here.....

Otherwise the logic is wonderful.

I suppose we should really thank the Chinese.

Everyone?

"To be eligible for a full rebate, single tax filers must have 2007 adjusted gross income (AGI) below $75,000 and joint filers must have AGI below $150,000"

I'm sure I'm being thick here, but why do rich people get more than poor people?

Well... true... but why more tax rebates?

Oh hang on, I just answered my own question. We're not paying any tax for 2007 because we didn't earn enough and we have millions of children (well, three, but it feels like millions), so I suppose we're not going to get a rebate.

I think the correct term is 'Middle class' for the $1200 if they have 2 kids

Unless I'm mistaken single people get $600 unless they make $75,000 or more and couples get $1200 unless they make $150,000 or more. An extra $300 for each child. So how does that give the rich money? What will help the rich might be the business tax breaks but they don't apply to me so I'm not sure. I'm never one to praise the Republicans but the OP seemed to have all the facts wrong.

Because they are so rich, they will just hand it over to the Republican party, rather than go the usual route of campaign contributions, money from fascist insurance companies and power hungry corporations.............. it was a bit of a shit conspiracy theory wasn't it
In Manc's defense he has been under a lot of pressure lately and is a bit tired, he promises to make his next left-wing, socialist working class rant a bit more believable

Rich people pay more taxes
Poorer people pay less taxes

I see it as they worked harder to get where they are. Maybe that is why they are richer than the average person.
