Not to crash the party but I am a bit surprised at the drooling going down.... just seems to bear out to me that most folks are not paid what they are worth.

Well a little extra $$ is always nice though, isn't it?

I wish it was used to pay down the deficit - but oh well.

"The legislation would deliver rebates _ $600 for individuals, $1,200 for couples _ to most taxpayers, plus an additional $300 per child. Individuals making up to $75,000 a year and couples earning up to $150,000 would get the full rebate, with those making more than that or too little to owe taxes getting smaller checks.

People who paid no income taxes but earned at least $3,000 _ including through Social Security or veterans' disability benefits _ would get a $300 rebate."

I heard somewhere they are considered taxable income.
Don't quote me on it, but take it into consideration when budgetting for 08

We all had rebate checks a few years ago when Bush got in, as I recall.
Didn't worry about it then, shalln't worry about it now either.
Haven't ever budgeted for taxes , cuz, since I earn the most, I claim 0-0 and the wife claims all our exemptions (or whatever they are called). It's worked out just fine that way and we get a nice refund every year.
Its people who have "complicated finances" who seem to need to budget their taxes.

Cheers for the info, tho.

Tax refunds aren't nice -- they're bad planning.

The voice of reason speaks

I always try to owe the IRS a couple of grand at the end of the year...

I wouldn't say bad planning. But you can jiggle your withholdings and neither owe nor pay at the end of the year (or only owe/get a little)
But like me I'm guessing most people would rather pay more each check and get a refund than have to pay all at once when the time comes.
