Thanksgiving

Re: Thanksgiving
I bought a 17lb turkey to feed 12 people.
It did that and people took some home with them and there's plenty left. If I feed the kids turkey again they are going to revolt.... I'm thinking I could tell them that it's "chicken" and leek pot pie for dinner tomorrow
any other ideas for hiding it?

Ha, Mrs L made a one person reserve bread pudding which I have now found and eaten. It was hidden in a Tupperware box.

R.B.P. is a fine idea. Mrs L is a wonderful person. You can tell her if she needs a more secure hiding place (she plainly does), I would be willing to assist.
Good sleuthing on your part, however.

Don't forget, depending on what your shows are, mid-season breaks are approaching.
My Thanksgiving was lovely. Now that's done and dusted it's time to starve myself so I can be ready for the big Xmas feeding trough

Bit late to this thread but I was one of the lucky ones and had a four day weekend. sadly thanksgiving is a family thing so I ended up by myself because I don't have family here and all my friends left the state to be with their family

Ahhh you are in New Orleans. Was the turkey made with Cajun spices or southern deep fried with cornbread dressing or brined in apple cider or traditional slow roasted?
Personally, I love turkey over chicken any day and use turkey breast cutlets in place of chicken all the time and use ground turkey in place of ground beef for things like tacos or Italian meatballs.
Do like some of the southern recipes for the side dishes, i.e. turnip greens with ham hocks, green goddess salad, cranberry cola mold, fried green tomatoes. Yuck on the overly sweet marshmallow topped sweet potato casserole, yuck.
Welcome to America and the south.

I used to eat it in the UK also along with blueberry muffins. I seem to remember it used to taste better though.

Reminds me of those English cakes/buns with cheese something on top, can't quite remember.

I like the Cheesecake Factory pumpkin cheesecake. Not too pumpkin unlike some I tried down here in the south.
Hell, surprised they don't fry that as well. They fry just about everything.
