I just want you all to know that I had a large serving spoon full of some kind of cranberry stuff and I'm pretty sure it had marshmellows in it. Also, I put it on my plate in the spot where my mashed potatoes had, until recently, taken up residence. There was some gravy left on the plate, and I put the marshmellow cranberry stuff right down on it and then I ate it. And it was good.

Re: Thanksgiving

We went to a new place here in FL-they had a buffet-turkey, ham and beef. It was good-real mashed potatos too! Only down side was the cornbread stuffing. For some reason they put in hot peppers,.

Son reported in, they were cooking for DIL's relatives. Son whipped up real gravy instead of the stuff with hardboiled eggs in it that her family does in AL-hardboiled eggs--EWWWW!!! DIL made my scalloped corn recipe, doubled it, but forgot to double the crackers that go in it to bind it together.

What are you using them for? <<<drool>>>

I made a spinach salad with a homemade balsamic dressing. The salad also contained sliced pear, cranberries, red onion and chopped toasted hazelnuts. It was my attempt to add something a bit lighter to the meal. ;)

The almonds topped roasted yams.

We survived cooking for 14 and somehow managed to fit everyone in the house. :) My mother in law was a tremendous help, as was my husband. We made a good team.

Just catching up on this thread. :)

Well done Kaffy for hosting so many people!!

I spent my first ever TG (my hubby's 7th!!) with UK-US friends who live in Ventura.

It was fabulous, and the deep-fried turkey was to-die for!!!

Re: Thanksgiving

18 pound turkey was fantastic....thank god it's over with though :D

Only kicker, apart from the obligatory boiled to death veg was the gravy, the old dear grabbed the baking soda instead of the corn starch....made for a bubbly and gross gravy.

Oh well. Nice break and it was good having the wee one playing with the olds for a few day.

Glad to be back home though.
