Thank You FCC

Thank You FCC
Thank you Federal government for giving back to this US taxpaying citizen. I am thrilled with my close caption telephone which was installed yesterday. The FCC program is fabulous and I can't get over how easy it is to operate and the top notch quality of transcription of incoming telephone calls. For those that don't know what I am going on about, the FCC has a cost free program for the profoundly hearing impaired where they will "lend" you a close caption telephone that when hooked up to your wireless will transcribe the human voice on the other end into words shown on a screen on the telephone. Now I don't have to ask people to repeat themselves, so yes to something that I hadn't really heard and possibly should have said no to and allows me to talk to people with accents, very soft voices or quick speakers. This program is only available to the hearing impaired and the loss of hearing must be certified by your hearing specialist who orders the phone for you. The phone is given back to the government when you no longer require it so it is really just on loan which is fine by me. Again, thank you so very very much.

Intriguing! It works for someone with hearing aids? I have a relative who often has great trouble with the phone and also intermittent trouble with his hearing aids....

I wear an aid and with the phone on speaker I can hear but the plus and most important aspect is that the conversation is written out on a small screen on the phone itself. Simply fabulous.

I'm sure this will be a massive help. Great stuff!
I wonder how the system fairs with non-US accents. Tried any British people?

That's awesome. I'm sure I'm not exaggerating when I say that could be life changing tech for the hearing impaired.
Enjoy your new helper!

Congratulations, that's great news, Rete. It's good to hear (pun not intended ) for a change, of someone getting something they need and deserve, courtesy of the Federal Government.

My ear is not attuned to the southern accent down here and the handy man called with a message for hubby about rebuilding the patio enclosure and while my ear didn't understand most of what he said, I read it all 'loud' and clear.
