Thames Whale update
FYI, they now think the whale is too weak to release and may put it down! why not release it and let it try to survive??? if it dies it dies natualy

Just saw BBC World News on PBS, they said the whale died while it was on the barge being carried back out to sea.
OT side note...
They interviewed one of the rescue team members and he had the exact same name as my DH: Mark Stevens. I just kept staring at the caption listing his name! Since I've spent most of my life with an unusual surname, it still takes me aback when I see someone else with the same name as Mark -- or as mine, for that matter. Jennifer was the #1 girl's name in America for three decades, and Stevens is the 127th most common surname in the US. On the other hand, my maiden name is only the 7310th most common surname in the US -- so seeing someone with the same name as me is still taking some getting used to! Mark is very used to it, however...

Been following this story since yesterday, been out most of today, wanted to see whats been going on, only to end up crying like a little Girl.

I believe it has more to do with panic or frenzy. Breathing in sea mammals, such as whales, is not an involuntary action. Being air-breathing a whale must voluntarily open the blowhole when near the surface in order to take a breath. In a state of panic, either it doesn't take one and suffocates, or it may become disoriented with panic and take one while underwater and drown.
