Text Messages Back To UK

I have an iPod touch and I was wondering if any of you knew of a relaible app where I could send free text messages to a UK number. I use one called Textfree but it seems a bit hit and miss. Also, even though a iPod app would be preferable, any free web based service would be good too as long as you could get replies sent to your email.

You should try using twitter ;-). Twitter will route messages to and from cell phones in the UK via sms.
Works quite well..

Indeed!! found it to be quite useful way to keep in touch with mates back in Edinburgh.

The sms part is "direct messages":
D username + message
Direct Message: sends a person a private message that goes to their device, and saves in their web archive.
