You can always do a search through the archives to find out when people have last updated their I-129f timelines (and lots of other info). Our timeline (first NOA June 11, 2nd NOA July 11) sounds pretty typical of TSC processing times, and some have been faster.
If I understand the process correctly, yes, you will need to return to your "home country" for the interview...perhaps someone else has better info than I do, but that's my understanding.
good luck!

In my case, the Texas Service Center took one month. Good luck

Ours took about a month.

Not likely. They interview you to see if you're good enough to be let into the US.
They want to be sure you weren't a Nazi between 1933 and 1945, and that you've never
committed genocide, and all that.

Also, I have full faith you *can* wait that long. I haven't seen my fiance since January 11th, when I left him at Heathrow. That's...what...nearly eight months. I won't see him until October 3, assuming all goes well with his visa interview...it sucks, but that's the joy of international relationships.
It's a crappy process...but I'm sure you can find some friends that will be thrilled to have you visit them when you go for your interview!
