Temporary Health Insurance for Elderly Parent Visiting from UK
Hello all,
My Mum who's in her 70s is going to visit me for a couple of months (or up to the 90 days max) this winter. Obviously I need to make sure she has health insurance while she's out here.
Has anyone on here done the same for their parents and can recommend any companies? My sister said she had a look and the policy they found only covered up to 60 days in the US.
Cheers,
MB

I believe my mother used Saga when she came to the US in her 80s. But she did only visit for a couple of weeks.

I want to say my folks bought travel insurance from M&S for their short visits to me. They used it once when they got strep throat from the grandchild, paid quite well for the urgent care visit and Rx once they submitted all their receipts.

If she buys good travel insurance it will cover her. If she is over 70 it will be expensive.
As mentioned above SAGA is a good shout.

Travel Insurance, Travel Health Insurance, International Travel Insurance – IMG Insurance
I used them for a couple in their 70's last year, $195 for 2 weeks if I remember correctly but I'm sure this term could be extended.

Thank you! I checked but there appears to be restrictions for the US:
Destinations and trip length
With an annual multi-trip policy you're covered to travel:
Up to a maximum of 120 days per year in your chosen region
Up to 45 days per trip with the option to extend to 60 or 90 days (extensions exclude USA, Mexico, Canada and the Caribbean Islands).
I'm trying to find if there are any restrictions for single trip insurance to US, as I get the feeling from the above that there probably is

When my Mum used to come for a few weeks we budget the Travel Insurance to be the same as the Air Fare.
Shop around, the best deal changed every year, no shortage of Travel Insurance providers.

My mother on her last visit, in her 70's, got it through either Barclays or Post Office, can't remember.
Either way, it cost as much as the ticket.

Depending on health and age...insurance may or may not be difficult to obtain. A few years ago it cost us approx £1,000 to insure my 80+ year old MIL to visit for just over 2 weeks.
