On the telly tonight
......will be Hugh Laurie on the Jay Leno show.
I think he is brilliant on 'House MD' (so does NBC as they recently commissioned a second series).

Just watched it -- he was hysterical! We especially liked the comments about his "very English" son, and when Jay Leno asked if his son calls him "Faahthaa"!

I think Jay was surprised how funny Hugh was, as he was really laughing at lots of the things he said. I love Hugh and I think the series is brill

Yes, he was exceedingly funny wasn't he?
I adore him as Bertie Wooster in the "Jeeves and Wooster" series with Stephen Fry, he was wonderful as the upper class twit.
I'm going to get this collection I think, as it is on special offer from amazon.co.uk and we've hacked one of those cheap Cyberhome DVD players so it will show UK and worldwide DVDs:

I have the DVDs of Jeeves & Wooster, he's utterly brilliant in that! I think my fave performance by him in Blackadder is in Blackadder Goes Forth.
I've not actually seen "House" - is it excellent?

Elvira: I have no idea if the Leno show is repeated but I'd be surprised if it wasn't....I think you would need to check your local listings.
Maz: "House MD" is excellent too....although Hugh Laurie is playing the part of an American doctor for some reason, I think he's trying to sound like a Bostonian. There's also a young handsome doc whom is from Australia and was in either 'Neighbours' or 'Home and Away' apparently.
Basically the series is based on Dr. Gregory House as a bit of a 'maverick' doctor with an abrasive manner, at a teaching hospital in Princeton, NJ. He identifies (with his team) what is causing illnesses in cases where treatment isn't working or they don't know how to treat someone with a mysterious malady. He is very un-PC and the humour is very dry (so we Brits can relate to that of course!). The series was so successful that in our area it has had numerous repeats on Fox - even a few days after showing the original episode.
The new second series starts this coming Tuesday evening!

(Elvira; I just looked at the messageboard for the above Fox site; Hugh Laurie is on 'Regis & Kelly' on Sept 12 (no idea what time or channel as I never watch them) and for one hour on the Larry King show on CNN on October 20).
As an aside; when I was in England a few weeks ago, House MD was on TV there - and is a huge hit in Blighty as well. I noticed that the signature tune had been changed for the UK market and I think it's possibly due to copyright reasons. It's actually "Teardrops" by the Bristol band 'Massive Attack'. I remember that there was a fantastic video for that song of an unborn baby moving in its mother's womb.
