Guaranteed sun almost all year, except for rainy days, and possible hurricanes. Here in Tampa Bay we see very few hurricanes. We only had one to deal with all last year, and that one never came near enough to any real damage. Florida has a big British contigent, so you are never far away from a British accent.
We have lots of attractions here for adults and for kids.
Florida is nice, but you will need to get used to the heat, especially in summer. The A/C will be your best friend.

Everyone, except one person, has been so nice and made us all feel really welcome. That one person told me she didn't like me because I didn't speak American! But who cares.....it's her loss.

You could do worse than North Carolina...Seattle's lovely - Hiya Lisa! - but for cost of living / temperate weather ratio, I have to admit I'm enjoying NC a lot more...
It gets a bit hot and sticky here in high summer, but winter/spring has been very nice indeed....plus I bought a really nice house for a third of what I'd have paid in Redmond...
After a lot of job hopping I finally landed a fantastic permie job five minutes away from home so I get to eat lunch every day with Mrs. Vern and the nippers, everyone is very friendly and the work's great...so all in all I can't complain at all.
And I don't miss the rain one bit :

The a/c unit is on, and right next to me. I thought the Twin Cities (Minnesota) was "colder". Seems to be warm and thundery (severe storm yesterday), like, "what's this".

Hmmmmm ! ...... Good things about where I live ?
Summer ..... Great days of sunshine, out in the pool, wonderfull scenery, friendly people, crime rate bordering on zero and steeped in history.
Winter ...... Zilch !.... Nothing ..... Zero.

We moved here from the NW coast of England and the gale force winds, hail and rain that we used to get in the Winter were horrible too. Every year we had storm damage to our house and often in the winter the wind was so strong you couldn't walk in it, my dog would get blown over on the beach But the summers were horrible often, grey and windy so at least in Pittsburgh we get hot summers.
I don't think I would like to live somewhere where it was hot all the time.
I may not want to retire here but who knows....
Poor old Pittsburgh , no-one seems to like it

You can't even begin to compare Yorkshire winters with winters in the NE, but at least we have sunny, blue skies most days and its dry, not damp/wet/sloshy.
