Telemarketing Brits
What is with the large proportion of Brits telemarketing all manner of super-household-inventions!?
From mops and brooms that do the floors themselves, vaccums that cost $10 for two and pick up nuts and bolts, implements that sweep under your refrigerator, it seems that there is a Brit who is the mouthpiece for selling these things!
But wait! if you phone now, you'll get TWO for $10, and a mini vac thrown in for free!
The success of that Geico lizard must've prompted it, and we must be seen as a nation of housework enthusiasts or something!
From mops and brooms that do the floors themselves, vaccums that cost $10 for two and pick up nuts and bolts, implements that sweep under your refrigerator, it seems that there is a Brit who is the mouthpiece for selling these things!

Obviously the only way he can stay in business is by shouting a lot - if he was quiet, he'd have been replaced by a Brit too!There is always the obligatory Brit baddie in those cheesy soap operas too, you'd have thought the accent thing would've well and truly worn off by now.

I think it's all about the accent, a work colleague once asked me talk to a room full of people visiting for a conference just to say hello so they could "hear the way I talked"
I felt like a performing monkey, I was just missing the symbols. I have also had previous employers ask me to record the business recording/message because of the accent and I have a south country accent not even a fancy one!
They think we sound "real classy"!
