Taxing Question pt2
Hi all
I need to find a good tax adviser in the west houston area to help me complete my complicated 2003 return, including dual status and foreign wages payments. It looks like I might have to sell a kidney to pay this years tax bill (no standard deductible!!) Does anyone have a recommendation? is there any good companies out there that don't cost a fortune? I've heard that the average HR Block, Jackson Hewwitt etc employee only trains for about 4 weeks, but that there is a HR Block Premium service that may work. Thanks Stuart |

I've pm'd you some details |
Dual Status
For us at least the get out of trouble card was that you can elect to have your worldwide income treated as US income as a 1 time election, and then to exclude at least a part of the overseas earnings. The nice thing is that you can then file jointly and claim the standard exemptions. You may want to look into this. You are also then not subject to Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT). I believe this is an equitable solution if you moved to the US early in the year (Feb for US), not sure about later. If I had known I would have moved Jan 1st....
Hope it works out. - Tim |
