Taxes: Valid L1A Expenses?

Hi,

I am planning on going on a 2 year secondment to Los Angeles and was wondering if anyone knew if accommodation costs incurred in the US can be written of as a business expense as this is only a temporary assignment.

From what I have read I don't think this is possible is the US. I believe a business can do this for people coming to the UK on secondment.

As I still have a house in the UK to support I am negotiating for my employer to pay my US accommodation costs. This would be far more attractive to them if they could write it off as a business expense.

Thanks
Ian

If your employer is funding the accommodation costs... yes, they can write off the expense.
