Default tax question

I am hoping to open a brokerage account with TD Ameritrade to trade options. I am wondering if I will need to fill in a US tax return after I return to the UK for good?

A bit of background: I have been doing a secondment in the US since January 2019. Throughout my secondment I am still employed by my UK employer and my salary is paid in pounds to my UK bank account. I am on the E2 visa and I have a SSN.

Discuss with TD what their policies are for non-residents. Some broker/dealers only allow LPR/USC.

Default Re: tax question

If you are living and working in the US you are liable for US income taxes and social security deductions irrespective of where your salary is credited and whether tax has been deducted in the country where your pay is credited. ... Some people have an employer who settles up taxes with the IRS for employees on second secondments in the US; I hope yours is one of them.
